To know you are uniquely Gods own possession is the privilege of all followers of Jesus Christ. It’s all about a covenant relationship – not ownership.

Scripture

As a follower of Christ you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. A people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light, 1 Peter 2:9.

Everyone has God’s gift of a free will with the ability to either accept or reject what God has done for us. However the result of that choice is not of your doing. Do you not know your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body, 1 Corinthians 6:19,20.

The Cost

The cost of our being bought back from the kingdom of darkness was the utter humiliation of the Son of God and the shedding of His sinless blood for us. That reveals your worth in God who says:

• I have redeemed you
• I have called you by name
• You are Mine! Isaiah 43:1.

Chosen

God knows the end from the beginning, Isaiah 46:10, – He chose us before the foundation of the world, 1 Peter 1:20. The place where the Lamb was slain and our name was written in the Lamb’s book of life, Revelation 13:8. Also, in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, Psalm 139:16.

Being God’s own possession begins with being chosen by Him. God calls people to Himself, not because they have earned His favour, but because of His incomprehensible love, John 3:15, Isaiah 43:1.

Identity

God is total within Himself and has no need of any other. By His choice He created. You are chosen and your identity is grounded in God’s acceptance of you in Christ. It is not by:

• Your performance
• Your success
• Your ambitions
• Who you are in the natural.

It is Who you belong to and the price He paid that makes you precious. God says You are honoured and I love you, Isaiah 43:4.

Child of God

To be uniquely God’s own possession is to know that you are a:

• Child of God, Romans 8:16.
• Citizen of the Kingdom of God
•  Adopted into the family of God
• You have the right to call Him, Abba Father, Romans 8:15.

You have a unique and eternal relationship with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Now Relationship

As a follower of Christ you are defined by the ‘Now’ relationship you have with God. No longer ruled by:

• Your past
• The bondage of sin – for the wages of sin is death, Romans 6:23
• Self-rule and self-desire or ambition.

You have been rescued/redeemed from the dominion of darkness and been transferred into the kingdom of His beloved Son, Colossians 1:13, – the son of Light, John 12:36. You are defined by your relationship with the Great I Am that I Am, Exodus 3:14, and have an unbelievable inheritance being a fellow-heir with Christ, Ephesians 3:6.

Reflection

As a chosen person you are in a two-way covenant. The New Covenant that God made with God at Calvary.

God’s desire, therefore, is that you mature to the stature the belongs to the fulness of Christ, Ephesians 4:13. That you are His light in the world, Matthew 5:14:

• Reflecting His character
• Demonstrating His love
• Walking in His holiness – righteousness
• Revealing His wisdom to a doomed world
• Displaying His goodness.

He would that none should perish, John 3:16, 2 Peter 3:9. You are to reveal His glory to those who have an eye to see, an ear to hear, and a heart to understand. 

Responsibility

God assumes responsibility for His own possession – you are not alone, but precious and highly valued. Living under His care and protection, He:

• Knows what you need before you ask, Matthew 6:8
• Watches over you
• Leads you into His purpose
• Disciplines you as a loving Father.

My Son, do not reject the discipline of the Lord, or loathe His reproof.  For whom the Lord loves He reproves, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights, Proverbs 3:11,12.

Particular Purpose

This earthly journey is not just a proving ground for heavenly citizenship it has a purpose in God’s eternal plan. As His own possession He desires you to partner with Him. You are:

• Called to reveal His life and glory in the earth
• Commissioned to do His will
• Empowered by the indwelling Holy Spirit, John 14:23
• Sent, Mark 16:15.

God sets you aside for the kingdom of God to fulfil His purposes. Always moving towards knowing you are fully:

• Saved
• Justified
• Sanctified.

Living Beyond the Veil as God’s Own Possession

At Calvary, Satan’s great defeat, the Temple veil was ripped from top to bottom, Matthew 27:51. The area that was the sacred privilege of only the High Priest lay exposed for all believers to enter.

The message is that you are privileged and not content to live in the Outer Court with only a 30-fold return on His investment in you. An investment that cost the Son His life.

Neither are you content to dwell in the Holy Place with a 60-fold return. Your heart’s desire is to dwell in the Most Holy Place, beneath the blood covered Mercy Seat – 100-fold return.

You no longer live from:

• Separation
• Self-striving
• Self-definition
• Self-ambition.

Yielded Life

Every part of your life is yielded to the mighty hand of God for you live from belonging. Just as Jesus was one with the Father, so you desire to be one with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, John 17:23-23. It is your special place, for you were the being before the fact – in eternity past. Now you are:

• Chosen before you perform
• Loved before you achieve
• Accepted before you succeed
• Commissioned before you feel ready.

 Uniquely Gods Own Possession

When you truly awaken to being God’s own possession you stop asking:

• Who will approve of me
• How do I appear in the eyes of others
• Am I content with my position in God – not envious of others
• Do my circumstances define/control who I am

You live in the security of belonging. Living in the dignity of being treasured beyond your own abilities. You live from the reality that the Creator of the universe has claimed you as His own. Your greatest desire is to do the will of the Father  – on earth as it is in heaven, Matthew 6:10. 

God has called you apart for His purposes. You are because He is. His people, chosen for His own inheritance, Psalm 33:12. Stand tall in who you are in Him – fully yielded to Him.
