The Hidden secrets of small things is that they are rarely small in spirit. That small statement needs a big unpacking for It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter, Proverbs 25:1.

The Real You

The real you is revealed in the small things for they are the hidden architecture of a person’s character. Small things that are:

• Ordinary day to day choices
• Hidden obedience
• Quiet integrity
• Consistent alignment with truth – the Word, John 1:1.

Great moments do not create maturity – they reveal what has already been formed privately. He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much, Luke 16:10.

The Small Things

It is the small things of life that train the soul to live in aligned relationship with truth. They are the things that:

•  Transform character
•  Alter perception
• Prove trustworthiness.

The small things of life go unrewarded by the world, yet they expose the true condition of the heart. What a man thinks within himself, so he is, Proverbs 23:7.

The hidden secrets of small things eventually become the reality of the visible life. Do you trust God for every tiny thing in your life – such as finding a parking spot in a busy street?

Spiritual Capacity

It is in the hidden secrets of small things that your faith grows and is perfected – without faith it is impossible to please Him, Hebrews 11:6.

Every small act of faith:

• Strengthens spiritual perception – enlarges capacity
• Develops consistency
• Trains the heart into alignment with the Word
• Increases stability.

It is in the small things of life that transformation takes place. So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God, 1 Corinthians 10:31.

Faithfulness

In God, the small season is never wasted, as was seen in the life of Moses, Abraham, Noah, David etc. Part of God’s eternal plan – the place of preparation.

Joseph had to be humbled from being the arrogant youngest brother, Genesis 37:2ff, to being a lowly prisoner, Genesis 39:19-21. Finally God exalted him to a high position of authority, Genesis 41. The way down is always the way up. Humble yourself in the presence of the Lord and He will exalt you, James 4:16.

God is unchanging, Hebrews 13:8. He asks that His children remain faithful to Him, trusting Him in everything – small then big. Only faithfulness enlarges capacity.

Pollution

It is the little foxes that spoil the vine, 2 Solomon 2:15 – small things quickly pollute the whole. Successful people become weak if they do not learn to be faithful in the small things. Small things which create the whole:

• Hidden faithfulness – stability
• Stability – alignment
• Alignment – authority
• Authority – true and lasting spiritual influence.

Jesus

Jesus told a parable – easy to miss the true significance. The master eventually said to two men. Well done good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master, Matthew 25:23, 23.

To the third slave, He said: To everyone who has more shall be given and he will have an abundance, but the from the one who does not have even what he does have shall be taken away. Throw out the worthless slave into the outer darkness, Matthew 25:29.

He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much, Luke 16:10. Small things are rarely small in spirit.

The True Power

It is the small compromises of life that shows who a person really is. It is not the size of the small thing, but what it creates within the soul.

There is nothing covered up that will not be revealed and hidden that will not be know. Whatever you have said in the dark will be hear in the light. And what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops, Luke 1:2.,3.

Growth

First the natural then the spiritual, 1 Corinthians 15:46. All growth begins with a seed. You plant a tiny seed in the ground – your mind sees the mature plant. The kingdom of God begins with a:

• Seed
• Timely word
• Whispered prayer
• Decision
• Surrendered and intimate moment based on relationship.

Just as the natural seed has the fullness of maturity inside it, small acts hold the hidden life of:

• Eternal weight
• Multiplication
• Capacity – that is built progressively.

True Identity

When you make the decision to truly abide in the things of God and seek first His kingdom, Matthew 6:33, it changes your entire perspective. Faithfulness stops being something you strive for, it becomes who you are. You grow into always being:

• Trustworthy
• Steady
• Grounded
• Aligned
• Dependable.

That does not happen because of occasional great moments in the spotlight. It is truth which has formed in your nature through constant practice.

• Repeated small choices become patterns
• Patterns – habits
• Habits – character
• Character shapes identity.  

Now Person

Believing for all the small things in everyday life makes you a ‘Now’ person. The past is the building blocks God used to bring you to what you are today. The unknown future coming towards you is in God’s hands. Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care for itself, Matthew 6:34.

Live in the now and enjoy the great I Am That I Am, Exodus 3:14, who is beyond time, space and matter and operates only in the ‘Now.’  When you abide in Christ you dwell in the Generous Present Moment. You live from divine reality rather than from:

• Emotion – regrets of the past, fear of the future
• Impulse – you seek God’s will instead
• External pressure – you live from the inner you
• You live as an overcomer.

When you are faithful in the present now, you become stable no matter what happens. Transformation takes place in the now, so take every thought captive, 2 Corinthians 10:5.

Scripture Examples

The great truths of the kingdom were revealed through the small things.

• Withdrawing to be alone with the Father – doing His will
• Washing feet
• Speaking to the women with the issue of blood
• Anointed with oil by a sinner and dining with sinners
• Resurrection of Lazarus.

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was the greatest victory over Satan that would ever be seen both in heaven and on earth. It was not just the fulfillment of Genesis 3:15 it was total defeat of the archenemy. It was God’s victory from before the foundation of the world, Revelation 13: 8.

Had the followers of Christ seen the real message of Lazarus resurrection they would have rejoiced outside the empty tomb instead of weeping.

The Hidden Secrets of Small Things

The astounding hidden secrets of small things is that:

• They shape identity – the real you
• Hidden obedience prepares for visible purpose
• Consistency develops spiritual maturity
• Integrity protects the heart
• Transformation happens gradually
• The Kingdom grows from the insignificant.

May we dwell in the intimate and secret place of being faithful in the small things, ever increasing our faith in our loving Heavenly Father. Small things are God’s hidden workshop of transformation – the treasure of heaven.
