How to know who the wife of God is to know the Biblical subject of marriage, for it is a covenantal relationship. Discover who the wife and the bride are.

Husband-Wife Covenant

God entered into a covenant with the nation of Israel at Sinai, Exodus 19. It was subsequently described as a marriage relationship. For your husband is your Maker, Isaiah 54:5. My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them, Jeremiah 31:34. I will betroth you to Me forever, Hosea 2:29.

The word husband is the word ‘baal’ which means master or owner. Israel played the harlot with the Gentile god of Baal. The prophet Hosea was instructed to marry a harlot, a prophetic picture of Israel’s unfaithfulness. She failed as a wife, but in the end was reinstated and restored to her husband. Israel will one day be fully restored to God and renewed, but only after great tribulation.

The Language

The language of this husband-wife relationship was bound by the covenant. The people declared, All the words which the Lord has spoken we will do, Exodus 24:4. And again, All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient. Moses then took the blood of sacrifice and sprinkled the people, Exodus 24: 7,8.

It was a covenant related to law, land, children, national identity and covenant faithfulness. God remains faithful to the covenant, even though Israel often played the harlot by worshiping foreign gods.

Israel’s Identity

God had brought Israel out of captivity and promised land to the descendants of Abraham, Genesis 15:18. Israel had to fight to gain the land and it has been hotly contested ever since. However, Israel has always been identified as the nation associated with God, Yahweh.

No matter how often Israel became idolators like the Gentile nations, they still had an unbroken covenant with God. The book of Joshua reveals the numerous times Israel turned to the Lord, fell into sin and idolatry, and became enslaved. Israel would cry out to the Lord, God would raise up a judge and Israel would be delivered, only to start the cycle all over again.

Modern Day Israel

Across the millennia the nation of Israel has been torn apart yet like the mythical Phoenix, she keeps rising from the ashes. Israel is the only nation to know rebirth, an unprecedented act in world history. An act bought about only through divine intervention.

Modern day Israel has long been a global influencer, starting with financial areas. Israel has also earned recognition as one of the world’s most foremost innovation hubs, often referred to as the ‘Start up Nation’.

Despite geopolitical challenges, Israel continues to lead in fields such as quantum computing, medical research, artificial intelligence and synthetic biology, to name just a few areas of expertise. The ‘wife of God’ has been mightily blessed and blessed the world, despite all the opposition it has encountered, spurred on by God’s enemy.

The Future

Israel may have gained global recognition, but there is a spiritual destination that will not be denied her. The Book of Revelation is the time of great tribulation. Israel will be brought to her knees until only a remnant will remain, Romans 9:27-29.

Christ will return to the earth and stand on Mount of Olives which will split in two, Zechariah 14:4. A major fault line has been discovered running North South under the mountain and there are cracks appearing as the ground appears to be shifting.

Israel’s True Position

Israel brought nothing to the original marriage covenant. God made all the promises and provided the ‘dowry’. All He asked was that Israel be His witness on the earth. She not only failed in this, but she had God’s long awaited Messiah crucified.

The prophet wrote that God will make a new covenant with Israel. I will be their God and they shall be My people, Jeremiah 31:33. They will be the nation they were called to be during the thousand-year reign of Christ, Revelation 20:4.

They will reign with the Bride of Christ and all those who were slain in the Great Tribulation. All being present in the New Jerusalem the bride, the wife of the Lamb, Revelation 21:9.

New Testament Saints

The Bride company are the New Testament saints made up of both Jew and Gentile, Colossians 3:11. They were caught away by the Bridegroom in what is known as the rapture, 1 Thessalonians 4:17. The ones who have accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour and are fully committed followers of Christ, prepared to give all for Him.

There is a record of the marriage supper of the Lamb. His bride has made herself ready. It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean. For the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints, Revelation 19:7,8. She is the only one to wear this type of garment.

Another Company

There is a great multitude which no one could count, of Gentiles standing before the throne and before the Lamb, Revelation 7:9. They are clothed in white robes, not fine linen. These have come out of the great tribulation and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb, Revelation 7:14.

They died for their faith, for they refused to bow their knee to the Antichrist, or take his mark, Revelation 13:16,17; Revelation 20:4. They too will reign in the millennium. All three companies will operate in covenantal and restoration authority, for they are a people for God’s own possession, 1 Peter 2:9.

Know Who the Wife of God Is

Israel is the wife of God, the Old Covenant wife. The Church of true believers is the betrothed New Covenant Bride of Christ.

Christians receive salvation through the death and resurrection of Christ. Cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, just as the wife was symbolically cleansed by the blood of sacrifice.

The New Testament church is transformed from the inside out, because of the indwelling of God who promised to make their abode in those who yield to Him, John 14:23. It’s all about how much we are willing to submit to the great I Am that I Am, Exodus 3:14, for far too many Christians will be saved as though by fire, 1 Corinthians 3:15. They will enter heaven without reward.
