To know the fullness of God is to know the depths and richness of God. That is to know the heart of the Father, acknowledge Christ as our personal Saviour and Lord and and know the power of the Holy Spirit.

At salvation we all receive the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Promise, Ephesians 1:13. We are to be filled with all the fullness of God, Ephesians 3:19.

The Godhead

The Godhead is made up of three Persons. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit, all being equally God. Each One plays a unique role in our life.

We know the Father’s heart which is clearly stated in John 3:16. He so loved the world He gave His only Son that we might have eternal life. He would that none should perish, 2 Peter 3:9.

We know Christ through what He did at Calvary, and is the fullness of the Deity in bodily form, Colossians 2:9. The visible image of the invisible God. The One who had the currency to atone for our redemption – His sinless blood with, power over sin and death.

We are to then be filled with the Holy Spirit, Acts 18:32, for He searches the deep things of God, 1 Corinthians 2:10. He is our teacher, John 14:26, 16:23. He leads us into all truth, John 14:26.

Fullness of God

To know the fullness of God is to know His nature and His unchangeable attributes. His love, holiness, justice, mercy, grace and truth.

Yet, God fills all the heaven and the earth, Jeremiah 23:24. Whatever we know of God can only ever be partial knowledge. However, we experience His presence through the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said, If anyone loves Me he will keep My word. And My Father will love him and We will come to him and make Our abode in Him, John 14:23. God is not some distant figure in some far off place, for He desires to dwell in and among His own people, Exodus 25:8.

Power of God

To know the fullness of God is to experience His transforming power in our life. God is the great I Am That I Am, Exodus 3:14, the creator of all things. Yet, He always had a plan of redemption.

When Adam sinned, God did not revert to Plan B, for God knows the end from the beginning, Exodus 46:10. He had a plan from eternity past for Jesus is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the earth, Revelation 13:8.

Fullness of God

The last Old Testament prophet, John the Baptist said, For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace’, John 1:16. That grace is His empowerment for service. It is also His empowerment for sinful man to repent and return to a full relationship with God.

God not only chose to manifest Himself to fallen man through the Son, but we are to partake of the fullness of God through Christ. We are to know God’s grace throughout our Christian marathon on this earth.

However, we can have a 30, 60, or 100-fold return on His investment in us, Luke 8:4-15. God gave us the gift of a free will, so the choice is always ours. Ask the Holy Spirit to remove anything in your life that is stunting your growth in God.

God’s Provision for You

To know the fullness of God is to receive and experience all that God has for us. At salvation we were all sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 1:13. However, there is the secondary experience of being baptized in the Holy Spirit, John 1:33. That is to receive the power of the Holy Spirit to minister to and for God.

Then there is a daily infilling of the Holy Spirit, for we are to ‘be filled with the Spirit’, Ephesians 5:18. The literal translation is ‘be being filled’. It is an ongoing process, not just a one off.

The more we yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit, the more we allow ourselves to be poured out as Jesus was poured out. The more there will be of the fullness of God.

A Process

A deer comes to drink water, but it cannot drink all the lake, but it drinks all that it is able to take in. Tomorrow it will return to drink again and the same the next day and the next day.  

That is how we are to partake of the fullness of God. We cannot take of His entirety for He is God, but we can take in all that we are able to. It is a process, if we are prepared to mature into the fullness of the stature belonging to Jesus Christ, Ephesians 4:16. He will give us the desire of our heart, Psalm 37:4.

We must continually drink from the water of life, so rivers of life might flow from us to others, John 4:14; 7:38.

Yielded

Our God is a consuming fire, Hebrews 12:28. He will burn the dross out of our life if we give Him permission. That is the true purpose of fiery trials. I the Lord search the heart. I test the mind, Jeremiah 17:10.

God desires for our lives to be cleaned up from everything that contaminates body, soul, and spirit, 2 Corinthians 7:1. Only then can we partake of the abundant supernatural life which comes from God and His fullness. We are to press on toward the goal of the prize of our high calling in Christ Jesus, Philippians 3:14.

Constantly Receive His Fullness

Through Christ we have full access to all that God has for us, for we are a son, Galatians 4:6, adopted into His family, Ephesians 1:5, fellow-heir with Christ, Ephesians 3:6.  Something God decided in eternity, Jeremiah 1:5.

He is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, Ephesians 3:14. The eye has not seen and ear has not heard and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him, 1 Corinthians 2:9.

Grow into the Fullness

Knowing God’s fullness is not just head knowledge, or an emotional experience. It is a life experience that leads us to a fuller understanding of God’s amazing love, grace, mercy and truth. Every day we can learn something new and every day deepen our relationship with God. We will never reach the end of knowing Him.

We are to pursue a deep, personal and transformative relationship with God, through the Holy Spirit. A place where God’s presence, character and power mould every part of our life. A place where we minister to God through our worship of Him.

Know the Fullness of God

The more time you spend in His presence and searching His Word, the more His presence will fill you, surround you and guide you. It’s all about the depth of an intimate relationship with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The choice is always ours.

The deer can stand on the side of the lake and just look at the water. It can refuse to partake of the refreshing liquid. You can be saved but go no further with God. Or you can desire to constantly receive of the fullness of God. Only then will you begin to reflect His character and truly walk in His power.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God, Psalm 42:1,2. How thirsty are you? Only through an earnest thirst will you receive all His benefits and mature into the fullness of the stature that belongs to Christ, Ephesians 4:13. Your relationship with God is the only thing you will take into to eternity.
